The Macdonald Swarm are HTJHL Champions! For the first time in the teams' history! The defeated the Springfield Xtreme 5-4 in overtime to capture the series in 5 games.
Cooper Rodewald led the way for the Swarm, netting a hat trick, including the game winner in OT.
Playoff MVP was awarded to Austin Spicer
The Springfield Xtreme will not go away. They gain some momentum with a massive win on home ice to secure minimum of 5 games & heading to Sanford for the next 2!
In game 3, David Hazlitt & Connor Eggerman each scored in the first period, giving the Xtreme a 2-0 after 20. Early in the middle frame, Carter Campbell got the Swarm on the board following relentless pressure to end the first and early in the second, in what some would call a momentum swing play, the Xtreme did not back down from the game plan. A few minutes after Macdonald cut the lead in half, Chase Janas extended the lead once again for the home team, 3-1 after 2.
In the third, further relentless pressure from the visitors, Josh Rach, Xtreme goaltender stood tall all night long, finishing with 37 saves & the victory. Macdonald now leads the best of 7 series 2-1. Game 4 & 5 head west to Sanford on Thursday & Friday night.

MacDonald wins HTJHL Chanpionship 4-1
**PLAYOFF MVP- SWARMS' AUSTIN SPICER**
The Macdonald Swarm are halfway to an HTJHL Championship following a hard fought game 2 which had them down & off the scoreboard for the first half of the game. Early in the first, Michael Jette netted his 5th of the playoffs, giving Springfield a 1-0 lead, which they held for a period and a half. Macdonald ties the game with 4:42 left in the middle frame as Gavin Rondeau scores his 6th of the playoffs. The teams went into the 2nd intermission all tied up 1-1. In the third, the game winning goal came halfway through the final period as Austin Spicer, scored his league leading 10th of the playoffs. The Xtreme pushed back & pushed hard- they hit a post in the final minute, just couldn't find twine, puck leaves the zone as Rondeau nets his second (7th) of the game putting an end to the fight in game 2.
Game 3 heads back to Oakbank Tuesday night with 8:00 PM puck drop!
